how set cambelt tension peugeot/citroen XU10J4R engine

Hi there,

I want to do a DIY cambelt cange on my citroen XM 2.0L16V with XU10J4R engine. Looking through the Haynes manual, i think i will be fine, except for getting the cambelt tension right. Citroen prescribes the use of a SEEM meter, whatever that may be. The SEEM meter measures the tension in `SEEM units'.

How do i get the tension of the timing belt right??

Anyone experience changing the timing belt on one of these?

Is it possible to use a mechanical tension gauge, like the FACOM DM.16

. Theproblem is this tool doesn't use SEEM but Nm. Besides that, i don'tunderstand how it works anyway... TIA

these belts are quite straight forward make sure you line the lower and upper marks up. i always use a bit of white paint it makes it a lot easier to see, as for the tensioning, just make a note of where its at before taking it off , it always suggested using certain tools but can be done easily with out. just check you can not twist the belt more than 90 after you have it all back on. and its worth manually turning it over two turns just to make sure the tention stays the same and that the timing marks line up .
