Immobilizer kicked in on Mondeo.

Can anyone help on a Sunday, all the dealers are closed :-(

Some runts tried to make off with my 95 Mondeo in the wee small hours, crowbarred the door and free-wheeled down the drive and then down the street, luckily the immobilizer prevented them getting any further and we found the car where they left her.

Unfortunately I cant start it, have fixed the door and reconnected the wires in the ignition but I presume something need to be done to reset the immobilizer as it totally dead. I have the chipped key but it does nothing, as everywhere is closed on a sunday can anyone offer any suggestions? The police say I will have to wait to speak to a Ford dealer tomorrow, is that my only option?

Mondeo has immobiliser switch around the locks in the doors...... it operates with 2 little plastic pins that push to microswitches inside....£20 each but you need to remove the handle/latch mechanism to replace them.... Try this,..... Lock and unlock the Passenger side door.... it may let you start the car provided the switch on the D/S is not short circuit. Hope this helps... otherwise Monday morning 9:00 am.

Spot on mate, worked with a heavy duty set of jump leads needed to kick start it, they must have left some lights on.

Good site that.
