Indicator Problem

On my Volvo 850 T5 when the indicator is flashing right it flashes at twice the speed of when indicating left. I would have thought it would always be the same.

Would appreciate any thoughts on what might be causing this.

It's the standard way of telling you that an indicator bulb is faulty.

You'll have a blown indicator bulb on the right hand side. Put the right indicator on and take a squint round the car; you'll soon spot the offender.

Have you checked that you haven't got a bulb gone? Also check the earth.

I would like to think that you have at least taken the time to check that all indicators are functioning before posting here... But, reluctantly, I have to go with the consensus.

When did you last bother checking your lights? Last MOT? Please post in your reply exactly how many and which bulbs are blown around the car as a whole. My money's on at least one brake light, too...

Many thanks for the pointers - and yes of course it was the bulb. It's always best to own up!

I did check - but I was evidently too lazy. Last night I stopped in a dark lane and tried the indicators - but stayed in the car. What I thought was the front indicator was in fact the side indicator reflecting.

Thanks again.

If you want to do it the lazy way properly, wait till dark, drive to a shop with full length plate glass windows and park up so you can see you car in all its glory mirrored in the window. Check all the front lights, then pull out and reverse in and look in your rear view mirrors if you can't be bothered to turn round. Hit all the light switches and you will see which ones don't work. That's what I do when I'm loafing about outside places like Focus waiting for the wife to finish her shopping frenzy. :-) I check my side repeaters by looking at the bottom of my wing mirror covers, the light shines off them.
