Kia Sportage

Hi Folks Seriously considered buying one of these today as it was only 1495 quid for an R reg with 50k on the clock. It had quite a few cosmetic issues hence the price but nothing a couple of hundred quid in the body shop would't sort. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of these little forbies regards reliability, towing ability, economy? All comments greatly appreciated. Regards

Gareth

They're s**te.

Surely someone added an extra '1' to the price?

Not far off, then.....

Low miles mean nothing on those types of car - they've usually been bought on finance by some f****it who can't afford to, or is too tight to service them.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it hasn't even had an oil change in the last 5 years.

The cosmetic damage would back that up, too.

I certainly wouldn't pay much more than 500 quid for it.

Gareth Watkins ("Gareth Watkins" ) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:

"Only" a grand and a half for a tatty 10yo Korean softroader...?

Post corrected, with common sense taken into account.

Hi Guys Thanks for the positive response! I take the point that it's not worth the money then. What we are really after is a Honda CRV which seems to get us a 97 to 99 plate one for our budget of 2500 quid. We just saw the Kia in passing and took a look but I think we will keep saving and looking for our Honda. Many thanks Gareth

If you want a CRV you'll hate the Sportage. The CRV's ground clearance around the front diff and sump though is specially designed to get stuck in ruts.

Accompanied by the sound of a chisel on slate Gareth Watkins, managed to produce the following words of wisdom

If you want a small 4x4 and you're actually going to go off road then don't get one of those either.

The Rav 4 is probably the best of the soft roaders as it's capable of doing a bit off road as well.
