It's a product of the catalyst - turning nasty gases into water and less nasty gases. Nothing to worry about. Someone will be along shortly to add the science bit :->

It's primarily a bi-product of the combustion. As most of us know, water is made up of oxygen and hydrogen, both of which enter the exhaust after combustion. When the engine is running, this water is usually so warm it escapes as steam, but when the engine is stopped, the steam condenses in the exhaust and forms as water, getting shout out after a big splurt of gas pushes it out.

Main reason why alot of exhausts rot from the inside out.

drill a tiny drain hole at the lowest point of each exhaust box, this will allow the excess water to drain away, rather than sitting and rotting and coming out the back. The best cure is to only use the car for journeys that are really long enough to fully heat the exhaust so that it boils off any condensate, however that is unlikely to be convenient.

Ya as others have said, it's caused by petrol being burnt.

You can help prevent it by taking the car for a long run (twenty miles or more) to dry out the exhaust system.

Burn a gallon of petrol, you get a gallon of water vapour. This condenses in the cold exhaust pipe, and when you rev up, it all blows out the back.
