My partner's new (1998) 1.8i 626 has a sticking accelerator.
It is only stuck after sitting, usually overnight, and will then require a firm pressure on the pedal to unstick it.
I've lubricated the cable to no effect so then tried to operate the throttle directly. I found this to require some pressure to move the first time but after that it works freely, with perhaps a slightly sticky sensation when closed.
Could there be a build up of some sort of residue around the internal throttle mechanism which is causing it to stick? If so, is it worth spraying something into the air cleaner to try and shift it? What would you recommend?
Thanks, Chas.
