Megane Scenic non-start

Any pointers or common failures?

2.0 Petrol.

The car cranks OK, reluctantly tries to fire (or feels like it). Fuel pump primes when the key is turned. The owner reported a buzzing from under the dash when cranking, but that has stopped now.

I would say main relay or fuel pump relay, or immobilzier relay.

No spark or no fuel- go check and tell us.

Tim..

If I can I will. It's not my car, and may get towed to a garage tommorrow as they need it. Thanks for the advice.

You say fuel pump primes so it must be working,

check crank shaft sensor or cam sensor very prone for these. if they or one goes it wont do anything.

Can anyone tell me where the relays, the crank/cam senors, and the diag socket are on this? It's an 04 plate.

Crank & cam are both on the right hand end when looking from the front.

Relays related to engine management are under the bonnet. Others are behind the glovebox.

Diag socket is under the trim to the rear of the gear lever.

BTW, you have of course checked with the owner that it hasn't been started for a very short time and flooded?

Stu

The car should still be covered under warranty, unless it's done a high mileage, or hasn't been serviced.

Yep, when I looked at it it had been standing for a day.
