Micra Oil

Looking to change the oil in my micra, can anyone recommend a good quality oil for a car that only does short trips and doesnt get used alot.

What year of micra? If its the K10 with the 16valve engine, beware thay infrequent oil changes on these can lead to an easily blocked cam chain tensioner and suddenly a broken chain and a scrap engine. I'd use a good quality mineral oil of SG / SH spec, changed every 6 months with the filter, of an appropriate viscosity as indicated by your handbook- probably 15w-40. Try to give the car a longish fast run every couple of months too. 10miles at motorway speed would be a minimum.

Tim..

Car is a 98 1.0Micra with about 38000 miles on it. Theres that many different types of oil around its hard to tell which is the best stuff for it.

Use Vauxhall semi-synthetic its a good oil - I use it in a Nissan Serena 1.6 DOHC with no problems

Halfords semi-synthetic in a green can has worked fine in my 153000m 2.0 Primera. Still goes like new.
