Mondeo 1999 Mk2 CLUNKING SOUND ON WHEEL TURN

Probably worn suspension arm bush. Whip the wheels off and check the rubber bushes on the lower suspension arms, they'll probably be perished.

It hasn't had any major work done recently, has it? If the front subframe has been disturbed it may not have been re-aligned correctly upon assembly.

Pulling to the o/s quite significantly though.

Your spring's broken. If it slips it can take the tyre out as well.

Cheers for that I checked it and you were correct. Coil's cleanly broken in two. What's my best bet for repair? Get a new complete strut or coil? Then get a grage to fit it? Cheers for any advice. Matt

Having a new spring fitted should be considerably cheaper than fitting new struts. Not essential, but ideally both front springs should be replaced, as springs do get weaker and deteriorate with age. Replacing both keeps the front end in balance. Mike.

Get the garage to fit a new spring, probably around the 75quid mark. There are some schools of thought that say you should replace them in pairs, firstly 'cos the car will probably sit at different heights with

Yeah cheers for the diagnosis John. I bought a spring today =A331 with Vat, got a quote from local garage 1 hour labour =A350. Not gonna replace both as extra expense, and am flogging it but I appreciate the logic behind replacing both at once. I'd have a bash if I had the compressor/trolley jack but garage job i reckon. There is a coil on ebay for =A32 +=A38 P&P I was nearly tempted but thought better of it quality wise!! Cheers again
