Mondeo Questions

Will be ripping my Mondeo TD apart tomorrow to do a few bits on it. Its a 94 so would that be cable clutch not hyd? Not had chance to do anything on it yet aside from put a ticket on it.

Anyone know a good source for spares as well? Need a decent bonnet for it as its had a knock.

Cheers Matt (**-** but posting via google)

Not all mondeos were Hyd clutch.....

1993 & early 94's were fitted with cables with an adjuster at the end of the cable.

Yeh its a cable. Replaced it today along with bashing the bulkhead back into shape'ish and welding a plate to it for some reinforcement. Sorted the clutch problem out, well bar the rumbling release bearing but as its done

221,000 miles I can let it off that ;-)

Don't you have to take the entire engine/box out to replace that on a mondy...

Doesn't look that way to me, just drop the front subframe and pull the box off the engine.

Many places will actually pull the entire engine rather than drop the subframe, because it is an utter swine to put back right, and it put back wrongly, will cause tyre wear, and pulling to one side.

Thats an old wifes tail- anyone worth employing to do the job will have the mounting jig / alignment pins and follow the correct procedure for bolting the subframe back on i.e. final tighening of bolts with vehicle on level ground etc. Its pretty easy- just time consuming. Pulling the engine / 'box out the top off the subframe takes longer due to the amount of deck clearing you have to do first, and invariably ends up with bits of wiring loom re fitted incorrectly and problems after...

Yep, I'd go along with this. I did mine myself at home and it was a pain, but not overly difficult. I marked the position of the subframe very accurately before removing it and placed it back exactly in the same place.

Saying that, I would prefer never to do another one ;-)
