Mondeo Rattle

Apr 30, 2005 3 Replies

Hi All

Just had a new cambelt (full kit) and drivebelt changed by rapid fit and I am now noticing a light metallic rattle when the engine is at about 2000 rpm (Cold or Warm) Doesn't seem to be noticeable much below or above this and its unnoticeable from inside the car with the window shut.

Could this just be the new pulleys / tensioner or does something need adjusting?

Regards

Matt

Probably a dead catalyst, or if you're lucking a loose heat shield. All a guess though without hearing it.

Well done that man - it was the mesh heat shield round the pipe just behind the engine. As it is replaced with the catalyst i wont be changing it soon!!

Nice one. Although it's pretty common for Mondeo Cats to fail at 20k.
