Wife's de-CATted FTO failed MOT on emissions. I say failed but it was=20
0.7% CO however this year for the first time it was tested as "generic=20 CAT" which is 0.3%.=20
Now here's the point:
The MOT tester put on the MOT certificate "Date of first use December=20
1995". HOWEVER the V5 has "Date of first registration Feb 1995". Here's=20 why it is important. Here's where it gets important. According to the=20 MOT manual flowchart which he kindly showed me, any vehicle whose fitst=20 use was after August 1995 and which isn't on the database gets tested=20 as a generic CAT with a 0.3% CO pass/fail level. Any vehicle with first=20 use prior to that qualifies for a non-CAT test with a 3.5% CO pass/fail=20 level.=20
So, which date was right for first use? Is it the date of registration=20 which is on the V5 that firmly places it 6 months before the date=20 required or is it the date that, I assume, the VOSA computer chucked=20 out on the MOT test?
Its quite important as it could save wasting =A32-=A3300 on a CAT thats not= =20 needed.
I would like to take the time to point out that I have used this test=20 station for 13 years and have no issues with how they carry out the=20 tests and that he is fairly applying the rules as per the information=20 presented to him and that I'm not wishing to circumvent them but clear=20 up a possible VOSA database f*ck up that could cost =A3300.
