Nissan electric windows query

A friend has a Nissan 100NX and the driver's door window will no longer go up or down.

He said it was getting slower and slower in use until it stopped - and hasn't moved since.

Is it likely the motor is just dead? There is power getting to the motor but nothing is happening.

Surely there's a relay involved here? I can't find one related to the windows.

If there's power at the motor, then it doesn't matter whether there's a relay or not. If there is 10-12volts at the two motor wires and it's not moving then it's bunched, whether there are relays fitted or not.

The wire ropes that draw the window up and down the regulator are broken, frayed and jammed around the wind mechanism at the motor. Replace regulator........................... you can replace the cables but Nissan don't do them. I have used 1/16 dia cable that is used in aircraft and it can be swaged with a special tool..... available from specialist aviation suppliers or from good sailing shops/boatyard's. Works a treat in the Toyota Avensis regulators.

The rear window on my Shogun became very very slow and my alarm chap suggested spraying the guides with WD40. I actually used silicone spray. Works a treat now.

Maybe the windows are stuck?

If it was getting slower and slower in both directions I'd look for a mechanical problem first.
