I am fairly new to these newsgroups, and have up until now been reading and replying to the messages at

Judging by some of the replies (with embedded quotes, etc), there seems to be an alternative place to read and reply to these same messages from, but I have not located it.

Would SKS please advise on the alternative location, please.

Thank you in advance, 'NT'

Most usually done through a dedicated program rather than a website, called a Newsreader - similar to an email program, but talks NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol) instead of the email protocols.

is a good place to get started. Cheers,

Outlook Express is probably the easiest. It's on most, if not all Windows computers

The message from "NT" contains these words:

It's called usenet and predates the widespread use of the WorldWideWeb. Using a web interface to read it is hard work and better ways exist.

What you need is a news client - there are plenty out there and a list of them here...

You also need a news server. Your btinternet account should include access to one - details may be here.

Do this through a newsreader. If you use Outlook Express for email that will do it, as will many other mail clients; you just need to get your ISP's news server details which should be on their support pages.
