What does this mean exactly? Has the car manufacture run out of spares stock and is waiting for more to parts to be made?
My car is currently in limbo waiting for some sort of bonnet release solenoid.

Could mean anything. The parts not in the UK, so have to be sent from the factory.
Doesn't your car also have a manual bonnet release - so shouldn't be disabled? Just an inconvenience?
Generally waiting for supply- they have none at the manufacturer's warehouse.
