Is there a special way of checking the wear on the rear brakes with out taking the hub nut off ?

there is probably an inspection hole on the back with a rubber bung, but the only reliable way is always to expose the whole lot, good chance to knock/brush/wash out the brake dust and check for leaking cylinders .

Strangely though these inspection holes only show if one shoe is worn.

Did not see any inspection whole.. Haynes does not mention it. guess I'll have to take it apart at some point!
