I have a 2003 VW Passat and the footwell is filling with water on the rear passenger side, I think it might be coming from the air con pipe under the passenger seat, can that be right? surely the piping is internal?

Check the pollen filter and the water drain under the battery. Do it quickly, and dry the car out, before it wrecks the ECU in the passenger footwell.
