Alloy heads were around long before 1967 - pre WW2. Dunno the earliest example. You certainly had to be careful changing plugs on Jags with the XK engine to avoid cross threading.

I don't doubt it. I'd never heard of it before and it seemed such a good idea thatI thought I'd spread the word for those who didn't know.
