I agree wholeheartedly. The problem is the average punter has been sold the lie. Strangely, the subject of faked S.H's never seems to come up either.

Faked or innadequately carried out. What's the difference? It could be argued that most S H's are faked. By all reports there are very few garages if any, that faithfully check or service every item listed in a cars maintenance schedule.

Whilst ensuring that a car doesn't have any really dangerous faults, an MOT pass doesn't ensure that a car is as safe as it could be. I've had a car pass an MOT test with brakes that IMO were not very good. I had them on my list to be fixed before I realised the MOT was due. So I took it in anyway expecting it to fail. Even told the tester but his m/c said they were OK. So much for the real value of an MOT.

He does say that both cars drive OK, so I would assume that there is no noticeable difference in the handling of either car. On that basis I think it can be assumed that the wear in the suspension parts of the unserviced car is no greater than that of the one with a full SH. Mike.

I like to see a history, but you can order a rubber stamp for less than a tenner and do your own. My son drove an escort as a courier, (shared with 3 other drivers) that had almost 200k on the clock, two services in total, and was sold with a full service history and 49k on. The person who sold it was ?cautioned? when it was reported to the authorities in 1997.
