The VP range of injections pumps were fitted to many vehicles, but each manufacturer would have a different spec pump (different max capacity, different module......) Essentailly anything with a Bosch fly-by-wire injection pump would use a VP pump (Ford 2.0DI duratorque 75 + 100PS used the VP30, 120PS used the VP44, Vauxhall also used the VP range of pumps on the 2.0DTI and 2.2DTI)

You want the full list? The Bosch VE pump must be about the most common injection pump in use, everything from fiestas to 25 tonne trucks.

The Renault pump however will not necessarily fit any other engine, as there are differences in the casing design, drive method etc.

ok so the generic model is the VE4 if I understand correctly.

If that is the case I would like to know which other vehicles the VE$/9F2200 fits please.

thanks for the info so far

It will only fit the type of engine it was designed to fit.

so can you tell which other vehicles have the same engine as the renault espace 1993 turbo diesel then?

2.1TD, J8S engine, fitted to......

R18 R21 R25 Safrane Traffic.

Note that the pump for each specific application may differ from the Espace pump, e.g., the Traffic pump is probably tuned to give higher torque lower down the rev range.

What exactly is it that you are trying to achieve?

You need to be very careful with injector pumps. They might look exactly the same but fuel delivery timing and pressures will vary.

I'm trying to find alternative vehicles that have the same pump so I can buy one to replace mine on my espace, which for some unknown reason is pulling in air. There is no air in the pipe from the filter to the pump but the return pipe to the tank is full of air and builds up to the stage where the engine stalls

Before you go replacing the complete pump, there are a few possiblities to try/check.

Is the pump actually pulling any fuel up from the tank? And is it free to do so (ie no restrictions, such as blocked filter, kinked pipe, blocked tank breather). Easy way to check this is to fill a container with diesel and run a short hose direct from the pump to the container. If the pump isn't drawing fuel in, then chances are the transfer pump inside the injection pump has failed.

Is there any visibile leaks from the pump? If it was drawing in enough air to stall, I'd normally expect the leak to be bad enough to also leak diesel when stopped.

The next thing to try is smearing all the connections/shafts/seals on the pump with grease. The grease will act as a temporary measure to help seal any areas where air may be getting drawn in.

If it's any of the seals on the injection pump top plate that are leaking, the complete top plate is relatively cheap and is fairly easy to replace provided you are competent at vehicle repairs.

The other possibility is it's the front shaft seal, which requires the pump to be stripped down.

thanks everyone who contributed I'm certainly a lot wiser as to the intricacies of diesel injector pumps. I decided to have mine reconditioned rather than replace it.
