My lovely Rover Metro fuel injection engine has started reving up and down.

Every two seconds the engine goes up and down, while in Park or Nuteral (automatic).

It reves up, then down.

Any clues on what this is about?

Check the map hose from the inlet manifold to the ecu is not blocked or restricted and the induction system for air leaks
