RUST!!

Don't they galvanise them yet? (or if so when did they start)

(I was pleasantly surprised to notice a few years ago the similar paint damage on my H reg french car patiently refusing to rust).

Mine's rusting there on both sides. It's caused by stonechips IME. Get a bodyshop to fix it unless you just want to cover it up for a bit, you'll not get it looking anything like right yourself without a lot of faffing.

Wow, that's got bad. It may be at the point of no return. You'll have to sand it back to good metal, use some of that rust convertor then use filler to bring the shape back, zinc prime then spray. It'll look s**te though as it's metallic.

Is that a Ka? I've a feeling they all do that.

Yup - it seems Ford got most things right with the Ka except rust!! Its terrible, far worse than any of my friends cars - all at least 3 years older and with 10k more miles on.

I guess I should have caught it earlier, the sills are going to and some underbonnet bits.. not good!

Nothing too major, some small bits on the bonnet frame, and towards the front of the engine bay wher the VIN is..

It's a Ka thing, not your mother's fault at all - later models have a plastic sticker jobbie to prevent chips from forming there!

damn useless Ford drivers (I heard they cannot read and wrightor fart and chew gum @ the same time :-) that damage their cars and then leave the rust for a couple of years I would say from the picture

Lets slag Ford - my 99 BMW 318 has had resprays + new alloys because of rust - alloys excuse - have you been braking hard Sir ? and no flippin useless driver damage either.

IMO Ford can't be arsed. The Ka handles nicely but they still put s*it bits in it.

Yes, bare metal - but theres many many old cars that have no rust on them..

and in fact the rust damage on the Ka is caused by poor design, not by useless drivers, since the grit from the road gets thrown up from the wheels and hits the edge as it sticks out slightly. and no it hasnt been left for years, its only got noticeable bad in the last few weeks..

I know about bad design but bad design is not exclusive to "common" designs and not impossible with "exclusive" BMW/ mercs who are as common as Vectras these days - what is the value of that £3.99 badge in the mind of the mad masses ?

who has not heard of blokes - my car is common Rover/Ford/Vauxhall and its CRAP as its had 2 faults in 3 years and cost £50 to repair whilst others have Mercs/BMWs - no problems just a couple of minor tweatks that cost only £100 to check
