Soundproofing my Rover 45 any ideas?

Yep. Don't bother. Quieter cars are quieter because there's soundproofing under the carpets, headlining etc. and thicker glass, double firewalls, subframe mounting etc. By the time you've succeeded in making the Rover 45 quieter, you'll have dismantled the whole thing, made it heavier and probably won't be able to make all the trim fit again. OTOH, if the door seals are stuffed they make a right racket.

Uk based company, they sell sound deadening self-adhesive pads that are designed to be stuck to door inner skins etc.

They also do a product called Lizard Skin which is supposed to reduce noise by up to 10 decibels, but can't comment on how good it is.

Alternatively, try one of the companies that'll supply and install soundproofing for you - expect to pay around £350 - £400

added some 'hush pads' ( from ebay.. where else!) to the bonnet and boot/ rear window shelf(The main reason was to improve my audio system ), quite a worth while improvement to a noisy 306 diesel, about 30 quids worth . Try looking for 'deadmat' or dynamat also . It's easy enough to apply to exposed areas, don't expect miracles though .
