Odds are it'll need more than just a reset.
Someone hasn't thought this legislation through properly - it's going to send a lot of cars with years worth of life left in them to the scrap yards.
But first you have to fix the fault ;( i have made a circuit using a 555 timer to emulate the air bag light on my Volvo, far to good for it to end up in a scrap yard for a non working airbag.

No No,there`s madness in their method, there will be a big increase in new car sales, with no doubt a nice little `kickback` going to `guess who` LOL
..and there is the rub! In this early Discovery 1, the only ECU I have is for the SRS (injector pump is mechanical) and in this version, even if a fault has been rectified, you need to go in with a diagnostics reader to reset the warning light.

Peter P.S. I like the idea of the 555 - you could make a good living out of that post Jan 2012!
Probably the rotary coupler on the steering column, not that expensive to fix.
As with most cars. But most independent landrover specialists seem to have the software.
That was the cause, it was fixed, I now need to reset the light! (As cost effectively as possible!)

Dunno about LR diagnostics, but i got an obd2 scanner & its great
Can it reset air bag warning lights?
Chris
Dunno, thats why i said i dunno.
It puts out the bllody annoying o2 sensor light, thats all i give a f*ck about.
Thank you for your insightful and well written post in a thread about SRS warning lights.
Chris
Ah firmware by Microsoft no doubt. my early Volvo has the Linux version ie it just says SRS code fault, helpful as i could be one of many things, and there is already a bloody light on the dash telling me that !! but fix the fault and the light goes out when you reboot (turn ign on again)

Are you saying my diagnosis was wrong then?
I got it in one, you knob.
That's known as wasting your breath !
What have you diagnosed? Clearly not the OP's problem.
You've certainly got something...
Chris
So it would seem, but sometimes you just have to try!
