Bad enough that the US and UK seem to have different approaches to the problem with the 2.5L SOHC (Phase II) Outback engine and head gaskets, but I've now found out what the "Antifreeze conditioner" that Subaru US were requesting the dealers put in the cars to 'prevent' the failure.
Stop-leak.
Bloody stop leak. If I won't put that stuff in a 1990 Senator 3.0i with a leaking matrix, I'm certainly not putting it in a 1999 Subaru Legacy.
My opinion of Subaru has just taken a nosedive akin to a TU-144 avoiding a Mirage...
