Suspension top mounts

Gotta old car, 9+ years old, and suspenshun is very hard and crashy .... methinks that the shocks may need changing ... but am only thinking of keeping it for a year or more.... cud I change the top mounts and get away with it or would it be best to get new shocks fitted and bu66er the costs?

Why would changing the top mounts cure this unless the bearings have gone? Anyway, if the shocks themselves have gone surely the handling will have deteriorated - maybe to the extent of being dangerous.

best to get it inspected and find out what has worn out, then decide.
