I was thinking more of the force trying to push the trailer forwards as the vehicle is driven up onto it. A leg wouldn't bend in the middle, but it might try to hinge where it joins the trailer. Same as a collapsing table doesn't break it's legs, but goes at the joints. Chocking the trailer's wheels will probably solve it.
