VW polo diesel filter

leaks,they are only manufacturers clips or Are they the type you squeeze with a pair of pliers and pull of then push fit back on if it's this then self explanitory.

Are you sure you need to remove the pipes??

i had a VW LT for the last 7 years, and on first inspection, you have to remove the pipes to replace the filter, but asking at my local parts dealer (not halfords.. a place that actually knows what's under the bonnet of a car) there's 2 parts to the fuel filter, the top and the cartridge.. the top can only be bought with the cartridge attatched.. but the cartridge can be bought seperately.. just like for all other vehicles,

you just unscrew the cartridge from the filter top, and screw on the new one, but you'll have to take the filter out of it's holder first of course.. just like if you were replacing the whole assembly.

if you do need to take the pipes off, just cut the clip off, and replace them with hose clips.. preferably buy the proper fuel line clips.. these are round all the way round, unlike jubilee clips which have a flat part where the worm drive goes and thus deforms the pipe causing leaks.
