I've got a small unobtrusive chip on my windscreen. The chip is around 3 mm diameter and has a few hairline cracks from it. The longest two are about 15 mm tip to tip. Will this cause the car to fail the MOT? The chip is about 60 mm inside the wiper area. If I adjust the wipers so it is on the edge would it pass then?
Windsceen chip - Is this a fail???

If it is not in the area immediately in front of the driver then it should pass anyway. If in doubt either ask a tester or post a more exact position here.

Take a look at:
formatting link
"Zone A" is defined as 145mm each side from the centre of the steering wheel
Maybe not. Also from the above link, it will fail if the wiper: "does not clear the windscreen effectively to give the driver an adequate view of the road (through the windscreen) to the left and right sides of the vehicle, as well as to the front."

Thats a great link. Thanks. The chip is in Zone A so I will just leave the wipers alone, and see what happens.
