hi,
i drove my wife's 95 m-ed yesterday for the first time in awhile and it has a most annoying squeak on conv top. if the top is up, it appears to be the lower end of the long, vertical metal piece which is just behind the driver. it has a hex head screw/bolt on it but i could not budge it. i gave it a shot of silicone which didnt seem to improve things either.
any hints here?

I put "3 in One" oil on mine. It takes a little time to work in, so give it some time.

Based on that logic, he could simply remove the top & frame altogether, something that I am actually considering, but it's not a very good option for a daily driver. :-)
My miata is so noisy that the top probably does squeak, but if it does, it gets drowned out by the loud exhaust, engine noise, tire noise and general rattles of a 20 year old convertible.
