another air bag question

I also have begun having a air bag warning light blinking situation. I checked the garage link that Iva suggested to a previous poster and my 6 blinks supposedly means;

6: Faulty air bag modules or poor connection of clock spring connector

Can anyone tell me where this 'clock spring connector' is and if there is some way for me to check it / fix it myself?

TIA, Chris

The clock spring is somewhere in your steering wheel. I'm pretty sure it's function is to provide a continuous electrical connection to the steering wheel even though the wheel is can turn 360 degrees.

spring connector

if there is

There are 2 wire connectors under the column switch housing, orange and blue, that are interconnected. You must unclip the orange before the blue to isolate the airbag from the backup module. These connections themselves might be your problem.

Otherwise you're looking at removing the steering wheel and that's a whole 'nother can of worms. ;)

Good luck.

As Mike and Ira point out, it is in the steering wheel. Hopefully, it is just a bad connection. Check the connectors that Ira mentions. If they do not come apart, try pulling under a 90 degree angle from what you tried before. :) There are also some connectors behind the airbag.

If the clock spring itself is bad, the thing is pretty pricey. I had to replace mine once because I tried the brute force approach to remove the steering wheel instead of going in the house and getting my steering wheel puller. :(

The replacement process is a bit strange but no big deal.

Did you also lose some incisors? For anyone else trying this, brute force works for removing steering wheels, but leaving the nut on a few turns is a must. :)
