We're retiring this winter and leaving Chicago for beautiful Bullhead City, Arizona. If you watch the national temperature extremes every day, you'll notice we will share the daily high temp with Needles, CA, and Gila Bend, AZ. It was 120 F. yesterday. I can't wait. But I'm wondering if I should take any special precautions/modifications with my '99 M2 before I leave while I still have access to reliable service providers. Once I'm living there, it's a 90 mile drive to Vegas, or 200 miles to Phoenix, for Mazda dealers. It has been trouble free since I bought it new, and still has only 23K miles. I've noticed the dash toupee's for sale at Moss, but it'll be garaged and not in the sun too much. A windshield shade should suffice for shopping and casino visits in Laughlin, NV (12 minutes from our garage just across the Colorado River). I also noticed heavy duty radiators and silicone hoses at Moss. Would it be prudent to replace just the hoses (they are 4 1/2 years old), or the whole shebang: radiator and hoses? I'm too old to be sitting behind a steaming hood waiting for AAA. Or should I just see how it runs in the heat and mountains? OOOhh, the mountain twisties, they are beautiful.
