Question ?? 420sel

i have an 87 420sel that displays a problem. i'd appreciate anyones positive input. when the car is cold and just started it does not smoke, but if i sit at idle for several minutes to warm it up or if i stop for any length of time while it's still cold it bellows out smoke so thick that that you can't see through it. if i just start and go this doesn't happen. it uses no oil and not a lot of transmission fluid between oil changes (3000 miles). once warmed up it doesn't do this either. could anyone give me a tip as to what might be causing this and where to look for the part that might need to be replaced. thanks

Blue smoke is usually motor oil. Also, I can't see how transmission fluid could find its way into the cylinders. Possibly valve guides or rings... check each cylinder's compression. Keep an eye on the oil level and look for oil spots on the garage from a leaking transmission seal.

it was the modulator valve. apparently this valve has a diaphram and works off of vacuam.. when going up or down the hill the fluid from the transmission is being pulled into the line which in turn is sucked into the engines vacuam systemand then into the intake. from there the cylinders get the fluid and burn it. in any event i've replaced the modulator valve and the problem has gone away. thanks for your input.
