'96 C-Class aircon

Does this model (non climate control, just the 'red/white/blue' thumbwheels) have the diagnostics port for the aircon? If not, how does one go about fault-finding?

Thanks, DD

First thing anyone do is to check the freon. Hook up the gauge to find out if you have enough freon.

Loads of the stuff (R134). I just need to know whether to take it to a MB stealer (big bucks, but if they have the dealer-only diagnostics.......), or if it is a simple system then the local independant might be the better option.

Dealer is the best and cost effective... MB has more sensors than regular cars does so independent shop might not know and will start draining your money for their education by replacing all unnecessary parts.
