changing pads/rotors on 2005 Lancer OZ

I'm getting ready to buy pads and rotors for my Lancer, which has almost 60K on it. Since I can't find anything on th web to give me tips, does anyone know if I am going to need any special tools to do this? I changed the front brakes on my 97 Cavalier a few years back, and it took me maybe an hour.

hi-temp grease .... pretty much standard stuff.

Thanks a bunch. I'm starting on them tonight and hope to be done before dark.

Got everything done. Learned that there are two threaded holes in the rotor to assist in removing the rotor from the hub. I also learned there are two different size rotors for the OZ. Ended up having to get them at NAPA, and probably spent just as much as if I would've taken it in to have the brakes done. Although, the pads I got come with a replacement set when they wear out, and now just have to get the set of rotors I took off resurfaced. In another 60K I'll be able to replace pads/rotors again and not have it cost me anything (and I'll know they will fit!)

The threaded holes was what the socket set was for. I didn't know about the different rotor sizes. Order by online at a site that caters to Lancers

STREET SERIES Slotted Disc Brake Rotors 02-06

These are quality replacement brake rotors that offer improved braking performance. These rotors are perfect OEM replacements for the stock OZ and LS Lancer rotors. These are superior to OEM Mitsu rotors. Do not be fooled by cheap low grade rotors available by other vendors. Cross Drilled rotors will crack in a matter of months .NOT FOR ES LANCER!

Axxis Ultimate Brake Pads for OZ/LS/ES Lancer

These pads are the most aggressive street pad Axxis makes. They have a superior friction level than stock and are even good for an occasional day at the track. R4-S (Porterfields) are a little more aggressive but these are a close second.

After putting these on the difference was very noticable on braking.

Glad that it worked out for you!
