A friend of mine just got a 94 mitsubishi galant, dohc with a manual transmission in it. Would a manual from a 91 mitsubishi eclipse, dohc work in it?

Both use F5M22 transmission variants that will bolt up to your engine, but the issue is the final drive ratio which may be slightly different The Talon uses 16" wheels and the Galant 14 or 15 inch. Check the rolling diameters.
You also need to look at where the front and rear roll stoppers are mounted. On the 91 Talon, these are on the engine block, and not on the transmission bell housing. The 94 Galant likely has the mounts on the transmission bell housing, and no mount points on the block. If so, you would have to move the center member or fabricate a new one.
You would also be advised to verify the number of splines on the axles for the 94 Galant and 91 Talon. They may be different.
