More cylinders and two turbos are a good idea, as, I think, you get more torque lower down (i.e. under 2k) due to a smaller turbo that spools up quicker. But for me the ultimate would be something like a Merc Supercharged V8 - loads of cylinders so loads of natural power and torque there anyway, but a supercharger for the massive waft of power as well, and no turbo lag. I vaguely remember reading about a Brabus tuned Merc V12 with a supercharger on it. 600 and something bhp. Now that would be nice.

The fuel bills wouldn't be, but if I could comfortably afford something like that then the chances are I wouldn't need to worry too much about fuel bills.

going from 4 cylinder 1.6 to 4 cylinder 2 litre turbo and having driven a V6 vectra (old shape) i prefere turbo as i love the sudden rush you get and the woosh noise and PTSSSSHHHHH if it has a BOV :)

i'd like a yanky V8 or a lexus V8 one day though just for noise :)

Heheh yes, I'm definitely with you on that one. I'm thinking more around the 'affordable-by-most-people-not-just-lottery-winners' scale of things though, maybe a choice between a previous shape Audi S3 or a Golf R32. Similar output, similar price, both 4WD, both great cars...

More cylinders isn't far behind though - I had no choice with the 406 anyway, cos the 3.0 is the only one that isn't underpowered :)

TBH I swing both ways (oh dear).

I really enjoy the shove of a turbo but sometimes theres nothing nicer than a load of displacement!

I think it depends on my mood/driving conditions/type of journey.

Turbo all day long, more economical if you want it to be, more torque, better sound.

Turbo's have the benefit of being able to be coupled with small a engines and produce big power.

On the other hand, a decent 3.0 with a nice exhaust sounds the s*it, and you get that smooooth ass cruise on the motorway.

dunno why though maybe it's the compression ratios or something. MR2 turbo sounds the bollocks with a blitz nur spec on tick over :)

They are nice to be sure.. like the alcy cars myself - really piecing sound. top fuel is a harsh sound but alcy cars hurt :) Jets are real nice too.
