Can you help advise me. Is this trolley
Is the trolley strong enough? Are there other important features it needs to have?

Don't be daft! Look at the shape of it.
Drive or push the car over when it is quiet.
No.
Are there other important features it needs to have?
It must be strong enough and the right shape.
Of course the shape in the main picture is wrong.
But what about this config of the trolley - or something similar?
The car can not be left on the same side of the road as the house, even for a short while.
Not convinced by those funny wheels. I'd probably use something like this
Or I'd get a scaffolding pole, hang the engine from it, and get a couple of mates to help carry it.
cheers, clive
thats the same one just put into the barrow mode :)
those "funny wheels" will make it esyer to get over the curbs etc.
Those are quite good for going up & down stairs, they don't go round corners very easily though. The other important feature is a decent ratchet strap or two to stop it falling off.
The standard way with a Hillman Imp engine was to nick a supermarket trolley (one with a flat frame at the bottom for the wheels not one of the new Tesco style A shape ones), and chop the basket off. Perfect height for going under the engine once the rear panel had been removed from the car :O)
i remeber taking engines out of the imps and the singer. after unbolting it, we used to chock the engine up then just push the car forwards thus leaving the engine on the road side. repaired the engines /or / the gearbox then push the car back over the engine. we could drop one of those in about 20 minutes.
Last time I had to move an engine a similar distance across a car park I used exactly the same method :-) Tesco trolley with a Saab 900 Turbo engine and box balanced on it and someone balancing it...

I used an old plastic skateboard to move a rover V8 but YMMV
yea right m8 we are sure you did........
Very approximately, what is the weight of a VW Golf engine?
Would my trolley with its 330lb load capacity be strong enough?
330lb being approx 150kg you should be plenty safe.
Having just been moving a 1300 Polo engine & box around this weekend I'd say that trolley would do it easily. I'd cut a piece of wood board the size of the bottom of the trolley, place engine on it and strap in place with a ratchet strap.
Use it in "barrow" mode. Even the cheaper one linked by Clive would be OK:
Alan.
The Rover V8 is an aluminum engine d*****ad, I lifted it from the boot of my Cortina onto the skateboard.
