Correct, EDS, Courtenay, Superchip etc are generic solutions, meaning that the same map is installed in every car, this kinda sucks because every car is different. On the whole the suppliers of this stuff couldn't map a car anyway. Unichip is a different kettle of fish, its halfway torwards a fully mappable unit. Basically it sits alongside the stock ECU and alters the signals coming from the sensors before the stock ECU gets them.. each unit has to be mapped on each installation. Problem is they often get signal degradation and there isn't enough flexability. Its also bloody expensive.
