Audio modification

My car has a beeper inside the cabin to let the driver know he's selected Reverse.

I thought how much better if it could link to the audio system - so if a CD was playing, it would play backwards all the time the car was in Reverse...

Urgh. Is it an american car?

Yeah, that would be cool, instead of fiddling around with buttons when you wanted to listen to a track again whilst driving, you could just whip the car through 180º, drive for a bit then flick her back round the right way and save all that faffing about with the stereo!

Excellent.

Surely much safer than fiddling with audio controls.

I thought a while back that it would be great to have a little memory-card (or memory stick, or whatever) based device that connected to a small-ish cheap speaker mounted so that it could be clearly heard by people standing near the back of the car. This would basically play a wave file on the memory stick, which would have anything you like on it - could be a jolly tune for comedy value, or it could be a hard-sounding bloke saying something like "Attention. This vehicle is reversing. I'd get out of the way if I were you. Seriously. Or someone's gonna get hurt." Or you could have slightly louder speakers and whack on "O Fortuna" (the loud bit) or maybe Ride of the Valkyries or something.
