Autosport Show

I was there on Friday, felt a bit odd half the people I was expecting to see weren't there and those who were didn't have stands (some hit by the Dakar fiasco, others by health problems). Came away as normal with a big shopping list. ;)

Drove down Friday. Went to the show. Drove home Friday.

Fecked Saturday.

Met lots of people - mostly because of the company I was fortunate enough to be in - and came home with.

A deal on an engine, some carbs and an ECU. 185bhp zetec for the Sylva. I lucked in there, but it still cost me a bit more than the 99p ebay one.

And an option on a well proven car. As in first refusal on a car that a whole load of people have been badgering the owner to sell. Strangely, I felt quite honoured. It was like 'they all want it, but you can have it if you really want it.' And I know for sure that they really have been badgering him to sell, they have all told me so. the price is good too.

So, tell me what kind of car this is....

And, would buy it ? It has a Honda Blackbird engine, is a GRP monocoque and is so light you can lift the front off the ground single handed.

Looks like a Davrian/Darrian. Traditionally imp engined in days of yor, but many transplants since.

I was there on Friday, must have been student day.

Seemed to be a lot of people selling bolt-on tat.

Live show was very staged and frankly not worth the effort or the tenner.

Some very nice toys in the aftermarket show.

Thursday and Friday are trade days, much better than the weekend as the engineering and technology section isn't there Sat and Sun.

The aftermarket section, again it's worse on the none trade days.

A staged show? ;)

This was built from a new unused shell around 5-6 years ago.

I've got a blackbird engine. Of course mine is still in the blackbird. : )
