Bah

I tried to fit a radio to the ovloV. I wasn't really looking forward to that as someone had butchered the radio loom, but OTOH driving to Germany without a radio isn't much fun.

So I gave it a start only to find that they butchered the loom well and proper and because of the idiotic way the cables are run in this car, I will now have to drive to Germany without a radio. Arse. Well, I have power and I have to potential connections for the speakers, but they are no speakers in the car (someone did a *proper* job) and I CBA to hunt down some 3" speakers. Trying to run cables from the door into the car didn't get me very far either, and the only alternative is to hunt what is left of the original wiring and try to hook up the existing door speaker wires.

But that'll require taking apart most of the interior to get at the location where (presumably) the amplifier that was part of the original system resides or resided. And I don't have the time for that...

At least on the modding front, the MX5 got a CF headlight lid with an air intake plus a set of decent headlights. Just wish I'd spent the time fruitlessly chasing the wiring on the Volvo to do a bit more work on the MX5 instead.

Shame you're not near my end of the world. A morning would've seen it sorted.

The amplifier is under the steering wheel on the 740/760. There is a connection block that isn't difficult to tap into. When I had my 760 GLE I went to the local radio fitting specialists and they made a loom to bypass the amp and go straight to the head unit ISO's for about £20 fitted.

Ah, cool. I'll have another look at that tomorrow. If that works, I'll hopefull have some "sounds" in the car.

Not that this'll fix any of the other little issues with it, but at least it'll be a little more pleasant to be in.
