Car seat query

May 06, 2005 10 Replies

Just wondering if anyone can help me. I've got a Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia Saloon and need to change the front seats as the support is non-existant. The Ford rip-off merchants have quoted me £1200 for two zetec seats. Does anyone know who else I could go to get these seats? Or am I stuck with getting them directly through Ford?

Thanks Netty

Find a specialist ford breaker in your area. If the trim changed during the life of the model you may find the cloth=20 is different though.

Your local scrapyards. Get trawling the Yellow Pages first, and then the internet if you have no luck.

Course not :)

In news:d5ftcu$qhv$ snipped-for-privacy@newsg3.svr.pol.co.uk, Netty decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows

Whereabouts are you?

I may be able to get two Zetec seats, as we've got two written off ones.

The reason for the huge cost from Ford is the side airbags.

Mine have 2 in each, one on each side.

Never heard of a scrapyard ?

How about a nice pair of aftermarket Momo/Recaro/Velo/SAAS/Cobra/Sparcos instead?

I live in the South Lincs area. I'm not interested in side airbags. Not worried about the cloth as I can easily strip and recover them (as well as back seats). Nothing in the local scrap yards at the moment. Although I've seen (and sat in) several aftermarket seats that I like, I don't want to put them in the Focus.

Yes, most modern cars (including mine) have airbags in the front seats.

So look further afield !

Clearly there are plenty of Focus Zetecs sat in scrapyards around the UK right now :)

Agreed. Some of those parts finder services are great online.
