Do you feel posters here have any more idea than you do? I dont see anything much to suggest they have the type of in depth tech knowledge needed to provide you with any sort of useful response.

I've been taking a look round there website and most of there figures seem to be about 10% optimistic compared to some of the bigger name VAG chippers. With 210bhp from the 150bhp Golf TDi most others only get 185-195bhp.

Have a look at emaps reasonably priced as well.

The figures are simply made up.

You might find that to be the case, I'd certainly be asking to see dyno results to back up their claims... What you might also find is that's the difference between a custom map and a "bulk" map. Then again, it could be the difference between 190bhp reliable and 210bhp which goes bang every 5000miles.

Ideally you want the car connected to a laptop and to take the tuner for a drive where he can tweak the values (map) to suit your car with your driving style or not as good but if needs be a custom map set up on a roller.

Anything else and it "should" be better than it is now but not as good as it could be, if it's a "one size fits all" map then it would have to be quite conservative to stay reliable because all engines are different.

And how do you explain how modern (and indeed modern means here in the last ten years for at least one major manufacturer) ECUs learn and adjust to compensate for that particular engine..?

I know a guy that remaps stock ECUs, at the moment just Vauxhall, but rolling road time shows he get 2.0 Turbo Astras and Astra coupes to ~235bhp. Which isn't bad considering he only charges £100ukp at the moment.

Just out of interest, what sort of warranty does he offer?
