Hi, my brake pads are ready for changing on my ZX, not had it long, but i want to make sure its going to pass the MOT. its a 93 1.8i. Im just wondering, is it the bolt that fits alan keys that i need to remove? Im not used to Citroens yet.

Not familiar with ZX's, could you give some more info and/or stick a picture of it somewhere on the web so we could see what you mean? "bolt that fits allen keys" isnt really that specific. Are you taking the wheels off, the caliper off, or what? Where is this allen bolt you speak of?
Give some more info and try posting in uk.rec.cars.maintainence if this thread doesnt work.
Alternatively, shell out a few quid on a Haynes book of lies, which'll give you some info on doing other stuff to your car besides the brakes.
FWIW, ZX's have similar underpinnings to Peugeot 306's.

Do you mean the allen bolt that holds the caliper on the disc? normally you can just loosten them, but I have been known to be wrong :)
Yes thats right. I thought that as well, just wanted to be sure.

No need to take the callipers off, Just take the two pins out that hold the pads in, Then pull out the old pads and replace with the new, But on some of them you have to SCREW in the piston into the calliper before you can put the new ones in
If you are not sure then it would pay to look at a manual at the libuary first...
