Been away, just heard about it. I kind of knew it was coming, but was really hoping for a miracle. The world will be a poorer place.

Bugger. RIP Dan. As other's have said, he was astonishingly cheerful given his situation - I doubt anyone on would have guessed how ill he was from his demeanour. Which is pretty amazing.
