perhaps you could modify that to include what happened :-)

That is superb. You are a true renaissance man.

What - overweight, naked and about 300 years old?

Lol - Possibly, but also a master of everything he does.

He does seem good at baiting people.

Your car is only worth a couple of hundred quid, so you obviously aren't gonna claim on the insurance. Her car isn't damaged, so she's not gonna claim on the insurance either.

So if nobody's claiming anything, then it doesn't matter whose fault it was :) You can't lose your no-claims discount if nobody actually claims :)

A while back my housemate accdentally backed into a parked car with the towbar on her ZX. She was reversing so slowly that she didn't realise the point it made contact with the driver's door of this Escort, and kept going, gradually pushing the door in! Not that it's an excuse, but the car she hit was parked illegally (the very reason that that was double yellows or whatever was because people can't turn around there otherwise), and was considering drawing diagrams of the accident, labelling the Escort as "violator" :-)

Just being in an acident regardless of fault will increse your premium You are considered a liability just because of someone else`s fault!!!

Copuple of hundred? You're taking the piss arent you!! I wont (well cant) claim on my insurance for my car, but if i can claim thru hers, then i damn well will! I dont think i explained the situation very well, but the way i see it is was her fault. I was manuevering into a space (when i started she was not moving), and was looking out the back of the car as i was reversing into it. Then all of a sudden she decides shes gonna reverse out of a space in front of me and come flying into the side of my car in reverse, obviously not looking at all. It wasnt just a tap because she's scrapped all down the door and into the rear quarter panel and also put a small crease into the bottom of the b pillar (which isnt good). Heres my picture (not as good as ronnys!)

I'd say it was almost as good :)

the key point here is "you were observing the direction of travel, and she was "blindly reversing"...

I'd also word the claim as while I was reversing into a space (the correct way to park legally) she reversed out (illegal parking (1)) and hit your car.

(1) its illegal to reverse out onto any road more major than the road your on, in a car park (assuming this still applies (and by my logic it does)) the bay (or someone's drive) is the most minor road possible, so anyone reversing from that is already in the wrong.

Lost

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Carl Gibbs" saying something like:

The dumb tart.

Maybe, but i've got nothing against her. Everybody makes mistakes, and she was quite shaken about it. I just hope the shitloads of money i've paid to my insurance company hasnt been in vein, especially since I have legal protection too!

What'll happen is that they'll offer you what glass's guide says. History etc. doesn't really make much odds. If it's roadworthy (which it sounds like it is), they'll give you the option of writing it off, or a cash in lieu, which means you get to keep the car, they give you the car's value - 2 or 3% and you spend that cash on whatever you like. Get one scrappy door, find a decent bodyshop, have the quarter and door painted and blended, job done and you'll probably have a few quid in your pocket. The only problem is that if you're FC, your insurance company might want you to go TPFT when you renew.

I'm reckoning it's worth a grand or so, which may or may not be enough to fix the car depending on the particular insurance company as they all use different thresholds when total lossing cars. FWIW insurance approved bodyshops will be charging around £30 an hour for labour. If glass's guide is taking teh piss, kick up a stink and the assessor will have a shufti round Autotrader and MR2 for sale websites and give you something more reasonable. Sometimes glass's guide is completely and utterly wrong (G40s and 309 Goodwoods are both worth < £1k according to them).

Not all of us live in the rip-off south, you know.

I hope they haven't pissed it all away on injectable drugs as well.

They'll offer what glass's say? Fat chance...

Well, not to start with anyway

3rd party claim. Woman drove into the back of my K-reg Scorpio estate with 200,000 miles on it. It cost me £100+60 for the CD Player and £180 on tyres (after running it for several months).

They sent a cheque for £1,210 plus I got to keep the salvage. (It needed a bumper).

Heh.

And that was with no haggling. I sent the repair estimate of £1000 which included replacing the CD changer (it really did start skipping after the accident - all second hand genuine Ford stuff, 2008/2050 and changer

- so it looked factory), they sent a loss adjuster who didn't even knock on the door or ask to hear the car running - no comments about mileage or anything. Just a phone call saying "We'll give you £1,210. You can keep the car".
