Has anyone used one of these...

Not being that tight, but I've a few jobs involving spraying panels coming up, and I've also got a few Argos gift vouchers kicking about, so wondered if these were any good, or would it be worth paying the extra to get a proper compressor and gun?

The cheapest decent sprayset new is an Apollo. To equal its performance with a conventional system will cost much more. But it can only be used for spraying. Or blowing up balloons and bouncy castles. ;-)

I've got one of the smaller Earlex airless electric 80watt guns which I've never actually used.

That one says don't use Celullose. Have you had a look at B&Q? They have a Compressor and either Nail gun, or Spray gun set for I think it was about £99.

You need at least a 50 litre tank and something like 8cfm minimum to do any spraying...

Don't even bother trying, unless you like compounding. It will only lay it on with a trowel, ending up looking like a relief map of the Grampians and cellulose ain't cheap. It's ok for primer, though.

It won't come to any harm if you want to play.

IMHO, high pressure sets that actually work start at about 500 quid new.

I've been down this route...
