Maybe not, but ambition is. Some people get the two confused.

Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of uncontrolled indulgence without really knowing what you want.

I'd put the 4k as deposit on a VX220.

Heh, Sunny GTi-R's... last time we had a few of those at York there was a bit of an angry mob that came to the control tower to tell us that they were not Sunny's - they are Pulsars.... Ah, deny your parentage ;)

Nissan Sunny Pulsar GTi-R == fast, but ugleeeeeeee

Saw a nice (ish) 'vette on ebay for 2k (would need a load of work to get running though).

Not even those with digital watches ?

Took the Outback for it's service/MOT today, and they gave me an Impreza wagon. What an unpleasant pile of crud to drive - I think they must make the hallowed WRX in a different plant, to a different design, with different parts. Harsh, crashy suspension, downright recalcitrant gearbox (especially the critical 5th to 4th - I've driven LandRovers with better boxes), brake fade when sent through my favourite set of bends at a creditable but hardly noteworthy 90mph - only 5mph faster than the immensely crap 405GLx4.

Don't get the appeal. Even with more power, still feels like a small, plasticky thing with a rather indecisive 4wd setup on tarmac. The Outback's

2.5 and longer wheelbase means I'd have caned my own ass on that stretch had I been chasing.

Oh, and the climate control sounds like Darth Vader. Very, very disturbing.

I drove a stock one and was throuroughly unimpresed. Handling was so/so. It felt like a slug compared to the GTR. But when I drove the one I have now I knew it was the car for me. Mods include Aus $5k in whiteline suspension, ugraded DBA brakes, STI intercooler, hi flow turbo, kakimoto exhaust, unifilter air induction, unichip fuel/iginition computer running at

18psi and a bunch of s*it that doesn't make it go any faster. It was like chalk and cheese compared to a stock one. I bought it with a noisy gearbox and had it rebuilt and since then it has been a great car. They have a really cheap and nasty interior and are a tiny bit small inside for passengers but it fits a baby seat and pram and is probably good for a 13 second quarter.

Tee hee :) 405 GLx4 1.8 :D ? AWESOME machine :)

1.9 - 1990 model. Carbed, too. Sluggish as hell, but didn't need to slow down ;).

I preferred the BX4x4 for weighing nothing, but the BX was injected too.

Sounds like a good choice for the OP. Perhaps the 750i would be a better bet ... with nitrous!

Cheers, Andy

Something with a big V8 and nitrous. About as fast as you'll get for £4k, I suspect. Actually, there's a Chevrolet Camaro on Autotrader for £2195 ATM. I'd say that's a good starting point. Or how about one of these...

Well almost all the rust is fixed on my mk1 now :) Okay, so its a bit of a bodge, but its looking much better. Just need to find some Jewish Racing Gold in a tin now :)

A mates got a 200SX and i love it. Although i'm loving to nimbleness of the MR2 which i think i would loose in a lot of other cars!

heh

I drove a plain old WRX a few months ago. It had 500 miles on the clock and needed a new turbo. Still worked fine but made a nasty noise! How often does that happen? Was quite impressed with it though, although apparently the WRX with the Suburu power pack are supposed to be the best all round car, which unfortunately i didnt get a go in.

cool would like a new pic of what you done to it if you can :) i miss it's nibleness around town! the turbo has way to much kick for around town! put the pedal down too far and it jumps from 0mph to

40mph :) doesn't do an inbetween it seems!

i'd probably go for a GTS-T when i get bored of the MR2 turbo which won't be for a loooooooong time
