Awesome :) We could line cars up and try to jump them :D
Awesome :) We could line cars up and try to jump them :D
All i have to do is put my foot down one of two things will happen:
1) I'll get away and you'll have no chance (especially in the twisty bits, which IME proper Welsh roads are!) 2) You wont be able to see through all the crap coming out of my exhaust and you'll end up in the scenery yourself :)Or I could just bring the MX5 and cruise around like a little tart with the roof off :)
I'd imagine your car could potentially make a mess if it didnt make the jump - straight through somones window!
haha it still smoke a little then? i beat a supra with my james bond style smoke screen effect once :) it tends to do it when pushing hard, think it's just getting on abit poor old thing. the volvo wouldn't touch it on a proper twisty road with hardly a straight bit in sight hehe.
Yep, it still does. Always getting people moaning when i overtake them! I think they're just jealous they cant keep up with a 20 year old car!!
If i can afford a 2nd car over the summer i may take it off the road and give it an overhaul. All depends on the money situation though!
i was always tempted to grab a late spec jap import low millage engine for a couple 100 quid and whack that in. you could probably get a good engine from a scrappy for it for FA. my mate said it was fine but i'm still sure it's the rings going myself, mind you it has been to the moon and back on the millage :)
Can you get import engines that cheap? May well be the option i go for then.
I'm thinking maybe the rings or the valve stem seals. It doesnt smoke when i start it up though so the rings are more likely i guess. Might do a compression test at the weekend to see how things are doing.
I had a sniff round one of the MR2 stands at JAE, last July... one chap had a Mk1 MR2... fitted with Mk2 MR2 Turbo running gear - a conversion worth the cost and hassle, I reckon. :-D

Tart.... mx5.... mr2.... hmmmm
You vs me - welsh roads... hmmmm
We can do a bit of white roading too if you want. How does the volvo cope on gravel/mud? :)
Better after I get that wheel bearing fixed...
Lack of serious interest, time against us, that sort of thing. :-(
From what I can tell its not that difficult to do. Unfortunately the MSA would then ban me from events :( My best bet would be a supercharged engine as they came as standard!
that's paul woods, currently doing a V6 camary engined MK1 with turbo to be bolted on later :)
he sold that turbo MK1 for £6k!
you want the late levin supercharger engine, can get it to 190bhp without to much probs :) that would make the MK1 a hoot to drive! and scare the crap out a few hot hatches out there hehe :)
i been in a supercharged MK1 standard at 145bhp and that's pretty cool! pulls up to 130mph on the speedo and was still pulling!
Yes!
OK, I'll lump responses to everyone into one.
Looking at doing this the last weekend in May, as it's a bank holiday weekend, I'm on holday the week before, and most of us will not have to work on the Monday.
Parking will be tight, so you may have to park round the corner wherever you can find space.
I have a spare double bed, with a single bunk above it, one inflatable single that can go in the 'server room', a large sofa and lots of carpeted floor.
Reckon we could get 10 in here with comfort - looks like about the right kind of figure.
Keep prodding me every so often on this, and we'll get it organised.
Ah, i think i'll probly still be doing hospital things then. Never mind, someone get Dervman really drunk and record him saying summet like "MPG doesn't actually matter that much does it" :)
